Important: DogMap is a community information tool. Park boundaries, off-leash rules and other information shown on this site may be inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. Always verify dog rules directly with Auckland Council before visiting a park.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using DogMap ("the site", "the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. Information Accuracy
DogMap displays park boundary data sourced from the Auckland Council open data platform, as well as user-submitted information. We make no representations or warranties that this information is:
- Accurate, current or complete
- Reflective of current Auckland Council bylaws or dog control rules
- Free from errors introduced during data processing
Off-leash zone boundaries in particular may not reflect recent bylaw changes, seasonal restrictions, or special event closures. Always check the official signage at the park.
3. No Liability for Personal Injury or Loss
To the fullest extent permitted by New Zealand law, DogMap and its operators accept no liability for:
- Injuries to you, your dog, or third parties sustained at any park listed on the site
- Dog attacks or incidents between animals
- Fines or penalties resulting from reliance on information shown on this site
- Loss or damage to property
- Any harm arising from attending user-created events listed on the site
You are solely responsible for assessing whether a park or location is safe and appropriate for your dog. DogMap does not inspect, endorse or take responsibility for any physical location listed.
4. User-Generated Content
DogMap allows users to submit parks, comments, photos, events, and business listings. We do not verify the accuracy of user-submitted content. By submitting content you confirm that:
- You have the right to submit it (e.g. photos you have taken yourself)
- It does not contain offensive, defamatory or unlawful material
- You grant DogMap a non-exclusive licence to display it on the site
We reserve the right to remove any user-submitted content at our discretion and without notice.
5. Events & Meetups
Events listed on DogMap are created by community members and are not organised, vetted or endorsed by DogMap. Attendance at any event is entirely at your own risk. DogMap is not responsible for the conduct of event organisers or attendees, or for any incidents that occur at events.
6. Business Listings
Dog trainer and cafe listings are submitted by business owners and reviewed by our admin team before publication. DogMap does not guarantee the quality, suitability or licensing of any listed business. Engaging with any listed business is at your own discretion.
7. External Links
The site may contain links to third-party websites including Auckland Council, Google Maps, and business websites. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the content of those sites.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
